....it couldn't have been otherwise!
What is most certain is that Hippocles (Cymaeus admiral who
led the colonization of the city of Kymi in Lower Italy in the 7th c
e.g. century), must have filled his triremes with dried figs of Cymis,
in order to feed his crews and the settlers during the
duration of the journey which certainly took a long time.
This fruit rich in vitamins and trace elements,
unchanged, in the same "ancient" way, it continues today
produced in the area of Kymi.
With protected designation of origin (PDO) the Koumiotiki
"askada", (ischada in ancient Greek), is in demand all over the world, which ranks it in the FIRST place among the rest of the dried figs. So is our business in the strictly traditional "that" way it produces its figs.

…it could not have been done otherwise!

It is most certain that Hippocles (admiral of Kymi who

led the colonization of the city of Kymi in Lower Italy in the 7th

century BC), must have filled his triremes with dried Kymi figs,

in order to feed its crews and settlers during the

trip, which definitely lasted for a long time.

This fruit is rich in vitamins and nutrients,

It continues to be produced today in the area of Kimi, in the same "ancient" way, unchanged.

With a protected designation of origin (PDO) the Kymean

"Askada", (ischada in ancient Greek), is sought after everywhere in

the world, ranking FIRST to all other dried figs.

And so we produce our figs strictly with "that" traditional way
